Prof: Zachariah Thomas / Summer 2024

MAC2312 was a great class and was very manageable with Zachariah Thomas. The course can be challenging because Calculus 2 includes a lot of techniques and topics, but the exams were extremely predictable and rewarded hard work. The workload was moderate, and the class felt very fair overall.
The course covers standard Calculus 2 material: integration techniques, applications of integrals, sequences, series, power series, and analytic geometry. It was very useful because it strengthened my calculus skills and prepared me well for Calculus 3 and later math courses.
Zachariah Thomas is incredibly kind, humble, and not pretentious. He cares about students and encourages his more passionate/skilled students to go the extra mile instead of limiting them. He made the exams predictable in a good way: if you worked hard and prepared seriously, you knew what to expect.
Do not underestimate Calculus 2, but do not be scared of it either. Keep up with the material, study the exam patterns carefully, and take advantage of Zachariah’s clear expectations. The class rewards consistency and hard work, and with Zachariah it is very fair and manageable.
