The course is very interesting and quite easy. There are not a lot of unique topics, so the class progresses at a rather slow pace. This enables the development of a deep understanding of the material.

The course grade (for the honors section) is based entirely on four in class exams. However, the exam questions are very straightforward and simple. If you keep up with the (optional) homework, you should have no trouble getting an A.

Dr. Robinson is wonderful. His lectures are very insightful, and his explanations are splendid. He is very passionate about moths and will occasionally take some time to talk about and show pictures of them.

I highly recommend taking the honors section as Dr. Robinson is an excellent professor. Do the homework. It may not be graded, but it is still incredibly beneficial to regularly complete it instead of putting it off or ignoring it.

i really enjoyed the class. granted i’m a math major so to me i don’t think it was too difficult. the practice exams are basically what’s on the exams. and there’s 5 questions and u can choose what 4/5 questions to do. i’m pretty sure the course was graded on all exams. the textbook was pretty useful imo and easier than other math textbooks to understand

basically solving differentials with infinite series. easier ways to solve at times but interesting and informative. then there’s some other more applicable stuff at the end

dr robinson is very enthusiastic abt teaching and i think teaches it in an approachable way. there’s no homework i think, but you can do it for practice. he is reasonable and u can argue for points back on test

MAS4203 was a great course and was very manageable with Dr. Robinson. The class was exam-heavy, but the exams were fair and closely reflected the homework. The grading was generous, and the course was a useful introduction to number theory.

The course covers divisibility, primes, greatest common divisors, congruences, Wilson’s theorem, Euler’s phi function and arithmetic functions more generally, the Möbius function and inversion, quadratic residues, Legendre symbols, and quadratic reciprocity. It was very useful for strengthening proof-writing and problem-solving skills while introducing a beautiful area of higher mathematics.

Dr. Robinson is an excellent professor. He is passionate, funny, caring, lectures clearly, and is always happy to help. He genuinely cares about his students and makes difficult material much more manageable and enjoyable. He was very clear that the exams would closely reflect the homework.

Study the homework problems carefully because they are excellent preparation for the exams. Go to office hours if you need help, keep up with the material, and practice the proofs until you can reproduce them confidently. The course moves quickly, but it is very fair.

The course covers complex numbers, complex functions, analyticity, contour integrals, Cauchy’s theorem, Cauchy’s integral formula, series, residues, and related topics. It was very useful because it introduced a beautiful and important area of higher mathematics.

Use the practice exams carefully because they are very similar to the actual exams. Go to office hours if you need help, keep up with the material, and do not assume the course is automatic just because the grading is generous. There is no extra credit, but the class is very fair.
