Prof: Katherine Kerr / Fall 2025

Overall this is a course that you can get a decent mark in if you put in the effort regarding the project and the quizzes. The project may seem brutal at first (and it is... there is no hand holding and I felt I only really understood how to do it once the deadlines had passed) but AI can be a huge help here and you neeeeeed to have a good partner for it. The quizzes are quite straight forward and aren't as difficult as other courses like 221 or 313's quizzes.
Quite simple in nature. More about how coding and programming is done in real-world situations including how to recognize poor code and how to fix it using a variety of methods from design patterns to refactoring methods.
I didn't really enjoy professor Kerr's teaching style. It was her first time teaching so I'll definitely cut her some slack but the vast majority of lectures were just her talking at us and weren't very engaging.
Get a good partner and start the project checkpoints early. The grading for project checkpoints is a bucket system so throwing extra hours in doesn't always get you a better grade.
