Prof: Edwin Barrea / Fall 2021

This course was a good introduction for neuroscience. Dr. Barrea makes this course easy to understand. There are quizzes and reflections due every week but they are pretty easy. The course content could have been made super hard and confusing by another professor but Dr. Barrea made it easy. The class is split into 3 parts the first covers basic neuroscience like neurons and stuff like that, the second covers action potentials and synaptic transmission, and the third is like sensory systems and behavior. Overall it was all pretty interesting but I didn't care for the last section. This wasn't because of the way it was taught but just because that doesn't really interest m - although most people in my class seemed to like this section the most.
You learn about neurons (their structure and the functions that go on inside to make them run), Neuroanatomy, action potentials & synaptic transmission, neurotransmitters and receptors, the molecular basis of learning and memory and neurological disorders like schizophrenia and other diseases, and some sensory systems like sight and hearing.
Dr. Barrea is one of the best professors I've had so far. He doesn't want you to fail or to even get anything less than an A. That begin said it's up to you to do the work. He makes the class easy and has little jokes and stories that make it fun to be in class. Definitely not just a monotone professor but actually interacts and wants you to think for yourself and discuss ideas in class
Nothing much just be prepared for quizzes and reflections there were 2 of both due a week but honestly pretty easy.
