Mostly hands-on design work, with lots of student examples and assignment description material to help. With each assignment there is a design analysis and problem description, not too hard since it's only a page each. Being in person for each class is important to your grade as well as learning how to do assignments. Easy to fall behind if missing lots of class.
You learn how to use color to your advantage and how we perceive color. Starts slow with black and white, then monochrome, then full color scale. Each critique takes place with draft assignments so you can get feedback to improve work. Very useful for future classes and endeavors.
Alex is an awesome professor who will work with you individually and in group critique. Super personable. Not sure if she offers project extensions but she probably would. Does kind of favor students who participate the most but not too much.
Attend each lab, and if you can, each lecture. Work on your assignments in class and take plenty of care on the painted portions for a good grade. Don't fall behind because all projects are due for a color portfolio at the end of semester.
