Comments on the course

I took this course simply as an elective and decided to add a Nutritional Sciences major to my degree because I loved this course so much. I think that it is a class that is super useful and applicable in your everyday life. If you are looking for an interesting elective that you have to spend a little time studying outside of class and attend lectures, then this is it.

Course Content

This class breaks down the basics of nutrition. If you are a nutritional sciences, food science, or dietetics majors TAKE GOOD NOTES. I promise you that you WILL be referring back to them in the future for SEVERAL of your courses.

Comments on the professor

I love Dr. Mobley and have continued to take several courses taught by him. He loves to crack a dad joke here and there. He is also known to sometimes give extra credit on random days for attending class because attendance is not mandatory, but he really appreciates when students come to class. He also does "5 Minute Rewinds" every lecture of the most important material from the previous lecture, these are crucial to study for the exam. He also records exam reviews and gives out study guides. WATCH THE REVIEW AND DO THE STUDY GUIDES. He really only wants to see students succeed, I see no reason why anyone would get less than a B or B+ in this course.

Advice

Go to class. Dr. Mobley loves to write and draw all over his powerpoint slides. My favorite note taking method for his class is to download the powerpoints as PDFs and write on them as he goes through lecture. When I took this course, I wrote my notes on Word Documents, but if I could go back in time, I would have done them this way as I was not able to draw the pictures that he wrote on the board.
