Comments on the course

Do not take this course here. Period. All the professors are grad assistants and just aren't real teachers. Exams are made by the head of the department, which is BS because they have no idea what we've been doing in class. My professor straight up apologized to us because the first part of our first exam was over literally nothing that we had learned. Exams are 3 parts with a midterm a week later, as well. They expect you to be able to read a full page of Spanish and answer questions about it, hold a convo for 10 min, and write a paragraph in Spanish 5 weeks into the class (these were all parts of the exam). It's insane. The homework is just a lot. They want you to dedicate 15 hours a week, but realistically, what college student with a life has time for that.

Course Content

Honestly, it wasn't super useful because it just wasn't structured or taught well. I can understand Spanish a little, but can only low key speak it.

Comments on the professor

Cohen was nice, but she just has no control over the class. It's frustrating when your professor has to constantly tell you to contact the head of the department with late work issues or something along that line.

Advice

I really wish I would've known to just take this at Santa Fe and transfer it. I somehow got lucky and just did good in the class, but I know a ton of people who didn't. Also, pro-tip, they don't tell you this until a couple weeks in, but you have to teach yourself the chapter material using the textbook, and you just review what you taught yourself in class.
