The material is abstract in some cases, but some of it is applicable to the more theoretical parts of computer science. It was mostly doing problems in the textbook through all access, about four quizzes, then two tests.
He was fine overall.
Do the all the assignments and the practices problems and you will be good for the tests.

I got into CS because i really liked math and this class is basically starting blocks for math in CS. They introduce proofs and have some coding. Everyone complains about dobbins, and yes he does ramble at times, but he is very passionate about the topics and I do learn when i listen to him. Sometimes when hes going through problem sets i zone out because those aren’t really that important. The important thing is to do your readings and the homework’s well you will be fine. I skimmed chapters BRIEFLY in the book in like 5 minutes and listened to his lectures in person and have an A+ in this class.
aside from his teaching, he is extremely passionate and will talk with you about anything in office hours. I had a lot of fun going to talk with him there and its always good to build connections with professors
one main thing is DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS in the book. I think this single handedly made the exam questions so easy for me. They are harder so they prepare u better but not too hard that they dont make sense. Also he doesnt really cover every single individual detail in the book so if youre reading something and u didnt see it on his slides then it wont be on the exam lol.

Not a difficult course, but the difficulty is shot up with horrendous exams, and an awful professor who, with 16 years of experience, seems to have gotten worse at his job over time.
Discrete math is useful for CS and CE majors, everything is fundamentally a discrete math problem when broken down to its grassroots within this field. Because of that, this class is super useful. It's also NOT VERY DIFFICULT!
He's really bad at teaching. It's actually hysterical. He speaks perfect english, yet his ability to put together a cohersive sentence and describe what is going on is abysmal. Because of this, the class is essentially self-study.
Do all the practice problems in the textbook, and do the review he posts. He doesn't post old exams since "it will make the exams too predictable." If you do so, a B should be easy, and A won't be too far off. Study hard for the first exam, it's by far the hardest.
