Comments on the course

Easiest chemistry course I have ever taken at UF. Although the course is exam heavy (only exams - 3 exams and a final), it was a completely open note and you had 24 hrs to complete the entire exam. The grading scale is quite generous considering its take-home, open-note exams. I would GLADLY take this class again if I had to.

Course Content

I took this course before Orgo 2, so the information was very useful for Organic Chemistry 2 Lab to be honest, but not for much after that. The content is not THAT interesting unless you love chemistry instrumentals and want to know how they work. Nevertheless, it's not a complete bore of a class. He genuinely cares about his students and loves the content. Pretty funny professor and he occasionally brought in some of the items he was talking about to class so we could all see what we were learning about which was neat.

Comments on the professor

The professor was super nice and genuine. I personally didn't have any issues in the course. I highly recommend this professor!

Advice

Do all the practice exams he provides and take notes on the lectures. Practice exams always have example questions that are almost exactly what shows up on the exam. He doesn't provide a lot, but it's enough to make a difference. Watch the lectures. Just because the exams are open notes, doesn't mean you shouldn't take notes. A lot of what he in lectures are not already on the PowerPoint he provides. Most of the questions he asks on the exams are pulled directly from something he said in the lecture. You can find pretty much every answer in his lectures.
