Comments on the course

I love ASL personally and took 3 years of the language in high school so I found this class to be a little easier than others did, but most everyone in my class loves the class and the professor. If you're looking for a relatively easy and laid back language course, I totally recommend.

Course Content

The textbook that is used for all 3 levels of ASL is true way and ASL 1 covers the first 4 units. The class is not 100% necessary for basically any major or minor at UF, but I believe that learning any language is useful.

Comments on the professor

She's amazing. Very friendly and chill. She is deaf and there won't be an interpreter for the class, so if that's non-negotiable for you, I don't think you would enjoy taking ASL at UF. Both professors are lovely though and if you're willing to step out of your comfort zone and learn ASL, Ralena is a great professor to have.
