Prof: Jack Davis / Fall 2023
Nov 4, 2025
The class was very interesting from a wide range of perspectives. This can be great for anyone who is interested in history or environmental sciences.
The course is based around out of class readings. Largely discussion based. There are only four grades across the semester, being four essays. Two he'll give you prompts to write about, and the other two are self created research projects--one archival based and one internet based.
Professor Davis is a true expert on the topic. He is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. He can be a stickler for grammar and his lectures can sometimes drag on, but overall he is a great person. Fair but very understanding.
As long as you somewhat keep up with the readings you'll be okay. If you're busy one week and miss a bit you'll be okay, but if you totally skip out you'll get lost easy.
