It was a great class to take, and I'd recommend anyone who wants to paint take it, but it isn't necessary. I'm in Intermediate now and while they're not the same, you definitely don't NEED beginning painting. It's just very useful to have it under your belt as you move up.

Assignments provided great direction and goals for each painting.

Loved this professor. He's very relatable as a person and will give you real talk. He won't put down your work over personal taste. He's not afraid to point out what doesn't work, and he doesn't shy away from telling you what does work either.

Pick a spot with really good lighting in the studio. Be prepared to drop the bank on class supplies too if you want good paint and/or canvas.
