Comments on the course

This class makes transitioning from high school to university a breeze. Firstly, the D2L shell is incredibly organized and packed full of helpful resources and practice questions. Secondly, if you are taking math 265, you are required to have taken math 31 (or equivalent) which means that this course is an almost exact repeat of high school calc. So I highly, HIGHLY, recommend taking math 31 in high school if you know you are going to be required to take even one calc course for your degree. Trust me, even though 265 is supposedly "harder" than 249 (even though they are pretty much equivalent courses,) it is better to have a low grade on your high school transcript, and then do really well in the university course because you've already learned most of the content.

Course Content

The course covered pretty much everything from math 31 - limits, derivatives, applications, antiderivatives, and integrals (minus some integration techniques that were covered in math 31.) Aside from that, the only real "new" content was some theorems and improper integrals.

Comments on the professor

Erik was great! Very accessible outside of class, and always willing to help you understand whether it be through email, office hours, or staying a bit longer after lecture. A very approachable and down-to-earth guy who cares a great deal about not only the success but also the wellbeing of his students. (Also his emails are the best and they always brought a smile to my face!)

Advice

Don't stress too much about this course. Do all the webwork, quizzes, and practice questions WITHOUT the help of an online calculator and you will be golden!
