Abysmal experience overall. The skills taught by this course are useful and immediately transferrable to the workplace. Unfortunately, the course materials are far from polished, especially the textbook, leading to inaccurate information, frustrating issues, and wasted time. Additionally, the professor is a staunch believer of rote memorization for assessments, which is bizarre since this course is extremely practical, emphasizes documentation, and dabbles in various filetypes/workflows that share no common syntax or structure. Lastly, the teaching team was maddening to interact with. Messages to the teaching team were routinely ignored. Other times, they say they'll look into a problem/question only to never respond again. Comments on the course

Simultaneously the easiest course I will probably take at UBC, and also the most useful. Not just for data science, but for computer science as a whole. You learn how to use Git/GitHub effectively, legality of using code, and most importantly: DOCKER! Project is decent bit of work, not too much, pretty standard.
