Comments on the course

I recommend it if you're interested in Korean history but be prepared for some boring classes.

Course Content

A lot to memorize but doable if you're interested in Korean history (coming from a non-history major perspective, maybe this amount of memorization is normal in history classes). A lot of it is pretty dry (sooo many kingdoms and wars and kings).

Comments on the professor

Reads off the slides but she's approachable

Advice

Review your notes every week if you want to do good on the midterm exam

Comments on the course

Really enjoyed this course, fairly easy and the content was easy to follow. Take it if you're interested in Korea!

Course Content

We talked a lot about Korean politics which is interesting and good to know. Don't miss out on the group discussions every couple of weeks which take the place of the lecture.

Comments on the professor

Read off the slides but sometimes shared stories and videos during class. Kind of a hard grader on the papers, so try to visit her during office hours to go over them if you want an A. I didn't put in a huge amount of effort but got A- pretty easily.

Advice

Give the professor a chance even tho her ratemyprof score is bad lol.

Comments on the course

Lots of essays, but I got them done in an afternoon or two. Since there were no quizzes or exams, it helped to lessen my overall stress level of the semester.

Course Content

Interesting material about contemporary South Korean culture. You learn about feminism, mainstream media, the patriarchal society, and pretty much everything else related to inequality.

Comments on the professor

The prof reads off the lecture slides, but she comes prepared with videos and guest speakers from time to time to help us understand. Hard marker with NO rubric.

Advice

Unless your GPA is low, this is NOT a gpa booster class. It was very difficult to get anything over an A- or A in this course.
