Comments on the course

All of the material related to this course was shared at the start of the term via canvas. We had access for all of the notes from day one, which makes it extremely easy to go at your own pace.

Advice

O-chem at UBC isn't as difficult as people make it out to be. To succeed in this course, you need to be proactive and willing to practice continuously throughout the term. I found it useful to write my notes out prior to lecture days, and focused on any key bits of information the prof mentioned during lecture. To alleviate stress from this course you should practice reactions once a week and actually understand the applications of the content in chemical synthesis. You do not want to focus on remember/cram for this course in 2-3 days before the midterms/final because youll only create stress for yourself and one difficult exam question will lose you a lot of marks. Good luck, you can succeed in this course, just keep trying your best!
