Overall not a difficult course in terms of material. Gateman is certainly an eccentric professor, so you won't be falling asleep in his lectures. I recall the term I took this course (Summer), we had a lecture on the beach! I also don't recall having any assignments (though my memory might be failing me), so your grade for the summer banks on midterms and final. Tutorials were basically to answer any questions students had, and to go over economics articles.

Gateman likes to exam people using very conceptual/abstract questions and analogies. If this doesn't float your boat, definitely look for a different professor. If you're looking for a course to take over the Summer I would recommend this. On the topic of textbook, Gateman sells his own "Notes" book and a textbook. The "Notes" basically summarizes topics from the lectures/textbook for you. I bought the textbook but hardly used it except for looking up a concept or two. You can save time from writing notes by using the "Notes" book instead, since I find it will be more important to pay attention to lectures. Don't bother buying the textbook; since this is a 100 level course, you can easily search up concepts online. Save your money!
