Comments on the course

Fairly boring class but at least it was simple to see what they wanted in terms of the presentation project and the exams.

Course Content

Didn't really relate to sports other than the additional readings assigned. I wouldn't consider it a super useful piece of information.

Comments on the professor

Sean was great. Nice guy and the TA I had for my seminar group was awesome. Very helpful!

Advice

Actually do all the readings!! They are way more helpful than you'd think!

Comments on the course

It's mandatory for everyone in KSR and not everyone likes ethics, but it can be interesting depending on student interests. The workload was moderate for a 4th year class, but the amount of effort and thought that had to be put into understanding the content can be high.

Course Content

The class takes a lot of applied philosophical frameworks and you have to apply them to varying hypothetical situations. The key to succeeding in this class is to have a rock solid justification for any scenario you tackle, focus on the QUALITY, not the quantity of the answer. There is also a focus on logical fallacies in the class and these are legitimately useful to incorporate into your own thinking. It can help you identify a poor argument and construct a high quality argument for something.

Comments on the professor

Sean was good overall when I took it. He was fair, kind, and gave everyone a chance in the class. Only thing I'd say he needs to improve upon would be communicating the expectations for the class and exams.

Advice

This advice is not for myself, but for others. Real situations involving ethical decisions are not always black and white and you have to willing to back yourself up. Not everything works the exact way that a textbook lays it out and that's okay.
