Comments on the course

It's a great class for beginning how to program, but can be very boring for someone who already has programming experience. I feel like the textbook homework was very repetitive and was way too long.

Course Content

Most of the class is just lecture. Sometimes we do an in-class practice problem during the lecture. These count as a participation grade, along with attendance, and are 10% of your grade. The programming language that we used was C++. You are assigned 11 chapters of textbook homework. Sometimes there are up to 150-300 problems in a chapter, so it does take a very long time. There are 4 major programming assignments that count as 40% of your grade. The lab counts as 20%, homework 10%, and the 4 exams are 20%.

Comments on the professor

She did an okay job at explaining things. If there were more class time, then it probably would have been better. There were about 100 students in class, so there wasn't any one-on-one time. Overall, she was a decent professor and I would take her class again.

Advice

Show up, do the labs and programming assignments on-time, and participate in the in-class-practices.
