Comments on the course

The course was very awkwardly paced. First half was all just advanced functions, then limits and derivatives were really dragged out, and finally there was only like one week left to do all of integration (which is kind of the whole point of the course). I was more or less fine bc I had already learned integrals in hs, but if you were learning from scratch I definitely think it was way too rushed.

Course Content

The course was basically advanced functions and calc from hs, sprinkled with an introduction to integration. So if you took calc in gr 12, you should be all set for most of the content.

Comments on the professor

Prof Wilke seemed nice, and very intelligent, but I did not particularly enjoy her lectures bc they were very boring (although that may just be bc she's teaching math lol). I also found that she spent too much time explaining and proving the background theory and it would have been better if she had just gotten to the point of the lesson

Advice

The midterm and final made up 75% of your grade so you can't really afford to do bad. Do the hw and practice problems, and pay attention in the tutorials bc my ta was very good at explaining how to solve the weekly quiz problems. Unfortunately, I did not find this course very fair. The assigned tb hw questions were too easy and did not prepare you enough for the quizzes and exams. I suggest using the sample exam and online assignments to study as they were the most difficult and most accurate representations of what you had to know. I think the only reason I did well in this course was bc I had previous knowledge to fall back on.
