Comments on the course

I really ended up liking this class, Professor Kelly is awesome and clearly cares about his students and about trying to make the content interesting. Personally, I ended up getting a philosophy double major so I'm definitely someone more likely than normal to enjoy this class, but I would definitely recommend it as a gen ed if you have even an inkling that you might like philosophy.

Course Content

It covered a ton of topics in philosophy, most all of the relevant stuff including topics on ***, human freedom, philosophy of mind, ethics, metaphysics etc.

Comments on the professor

Loved Professor Kelly, he does a good job as a lecturer and doesn't take the class too seriously since he knows it's an intro level class. He told us about how we dressed up as the hormone monster from Big Mouth for Halloween when I took the class freshman year - he's a cool dude.

Comments on the course

All of the lecture notes are posted online and I pretty much stopped going to class after about 3 weeks and ended up with an A- for putting in a medium amount of effort (for a gen ed). All of the work is involved and you actually need to put in effort to think about the material.

Advice

Take this as gen ed

Out of every class I’ve ever taken, I seriously have no idea how this would be used in real life. It wasn’t too difficult, but I had no motivation to learn the material
