Comments on the course

Very interesting if you have never taken an architecture course before, it's a broad global overview of different styles and types of architecture. I really liked it, the only tedious thing was having to memorize names and dates for key works and keywords. Would definitely recommend if you need a NUpath or are interested in architecture.

Course Content

The content was mainly thematic-based, so not really hyper-technical architectural-wise. Discussions mainly operated around the style, building techniques, and "meaning" of the building--mostly self explanatory (ei: the pyramids are a symbol of power for the pharaoh because of the expensive material, the gold cap "shining like the sun," the amount of labor required, and the visual power of a massive pyramid. Also impressed foreign nations/visitors.) The course was useful for helping me think about architecture more purposefully, but unrelated to my major. But I'm glad I took it.

Comments on the professor

He was a good lecturer, occasionally had cringey/millennial comments, but really nice and personable to the class. Cons: he does this weird clearing throat thing.
