This is supposed to be a 2nd year course, but the expectations and degree of marking made it feel like a 4th year course. The exams were the worst part. For the midterm, we were expected to memorize 100 terms, 30 of which had not yet been covered in class, and to memorize 25 short essay questions. The midterm annoyingly only ended requireing 10/100 terms and 4/25 essay questions. The final exam (I dropped the course before taking it) required an additional 50 terms to memorize, another 15 short essay questions, as well as drafting an essay based on ALL of the tutorial content, and finally, an essay based on the entire course and citing literally all course content (expectation was 5 pages of handwriting). 2 essays: one short (2500 words) and one long (3500 words). 2 exams: one midterm, one final. Tutorials every week, no lecture attendance grade. Did the content teach me anything? Yes of course, I learned a lot, but the course was extremely stressful and the marking was very strict.
Dr. Song is a nice person who cares about your learning, but he is not a good course instructor. His lectures are immpossible to follow as they are beyond disorganized. His expecatations for both the amount of essays, their length, and their quality that need to be produced on exams are simply too difficult.
Do not take this course, it is not worth the effort or your time.
