Amazing class and amazing teacher. The in class questions were very helpful to consolidate the information we just learned, and the practice tests were very good for reviewing for the actual tests. Labs suck but I'm just lazy.
Equilibrium, acid and base, thermochem, atoms(orbitals and stuff), electrochem
Great professor and great lecture slides
Do the in class practice questions and the practice tests and you should be good for exams.

Moderate difficulty course up until the final exam.
Basically a review of grade 12 chemistry, with some added concepts. You go more in depth about entropy/gibbs, thermochem and electrochem stuff. Photoelectric, chemical bonding, equilibrium stuff are straight up just repeated highschool content. The midterms are very similar to past tests. Labs were easy 100s but tedious. TA's are super helpful, and they don't even mark you anymore. Post-labs are easy as well, as the software basically straight up tells you what you got wrong, and how to fix it. You also get multiple attempts. Quizzes are all open-book and easy 100s as well.
Dr. Greenberg was an enthusiastic prof, but often went super fast during lectures. The only reason why I was able to understand was because I did well in highschool chemistry. If you didn't cover some of these concepts, you will have to spend a good amount of time rewatching lectures or learning them on your own. She also doesn't like answering "easy" questions, and will snap at you if your question isn't "good enough," which I found kind of weird. I'm not sure how approachable she is as I never attended office hours, so I can't really speak on that.
Unless you're built different, the exam for this class is a complete nightmare. I think it is to compensate for the easier midterms. The questions are nothing like the practice/mock exam. They also stopped releasing recent past exams, which makes it even more difficult to get a feel of how it's going to be. Biggest advice is to do well on the midterms (get at least an 80-90 on them, it's pretty doable). Try to get 100s on quizzes and labs, as well as any bonus I-Clicker points to cushion your grade. So the final exam doesn't tank your grade too much.

I thought it wasn't a challenging course at all. This is subjective, of course, but people generally exaggerate the difficulty of the exams. The first exam was easier than any test I've done in grade 12 chemistry, and while the second and final exams were challenging, they were very fair. The grading scheme is also forgiving, with them making like 20% of your mark 100% as long as you do the online quizzes every two weeks and give minimal effort in the lab reports, which are marked with AI anyway. The final exam could hardly be called a final exam as 90% of the content was just the last 3 units that weren't tested on midterms, so that made studying far less voluminous.
It was mostly grade 12 but a little harder.
Yurji was kind and really enjoyed chemistry. However, he is a little hard to understand and moves very fast, so sitting in the front is mandatory if you want to get anything out of the lectures.
You can stay on top of course content by doing textbook practice once in a while, and save the practice tests for midterm study. I never used the textbook because I'd always cram with practice tests the night before, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Mixed feelings. I loved chem in high school and always did well. Alot of the concepts are just expansions of grade 12 chem. I will say they make the exams extremely hard. Labs are easy which makes up for it.
They give a lot of practice questions but it is nothing like the exam so there is no point of only doing that as you won't be any more prepared.
Yurji was an amazing prof, very passionate about what he was teaching and was always willing to answer questions about anything. He went a little fast but nothing impossible to keep up with.

Pretty cool course if you at least sort of like chemistry. Won’t like though kinds challenging at some points especially some of the last few units imo. Also kinda faced paced which would be challenging especially if some of the concepts are completely new and you didn’t learn them in highschool
Interesting but heavy.
Loved him so much. Did Chem crams on his own time to help students do well. Super nice guy, helpful in prof office hours as well.
Do lots of practice tests cause the questions on the practice test are most of the time not at all like the ones you do in class

I have very mixed feelings about this course. They give you SO many resources to prepare you for the tests. Sometimes, they are less efficient that I would like them to be, but obviously that's expected. I tried using the textbook, but there are no explanations to the solutions, which is not useful. Dr. G is very nice and likeable and his efforts to help the students succeed is admirable through the works of the ChemCram or IClickers for practice. Unfortunately, he can be confusing at times, but I think that's just because he answers questions in an elaborate way instead of it being concise. The organization of the class itself is not too bad. The content doesn't build on itself at first, and the pace is quite fast. I think once you get to unit 7 the units start making sense together, ...read more

Good course. Useful as it’s needed to take organic chem. Lots of work required to get a good mark and lots of studying required. The questions from tests and exam are a good mix of easy to hard. Lectures and modules were easy to follow and had practice questions. Mastering chem questions were annoying and sometimes difficult but not too hard. The labs were tedious but not hard and post lab quizzes are a bit challenging to do well on. The content quizzes required lots of studying and can be challenging. The content itself is almost identical to IB chem but with a few new concepts. There are a lot of units to cover compared to CHEM 1AA3.
Profs were good at going over content but some were slower than others. Dr Chen is a bit tough to understand
Study a lot for this course and you should do well. Also attend the Wize chemistry practice sessions.

More math-based than 1AA3, which means some people find it more difficult, but I found this course decently fair when I took it. The labs were also rather chill and an easy way to earn high marks.
Chibba is an icon, enough said.
Past midterms are the best way to study for the tests and keep up with the weekly quizzes.
