The content is very woke. I wouldn't call myself conservative, I'm just a very neutral person. However, I ended up disagreeing with some of the content. It focused too much on gender identity (meaning it was talked about in a social tone, not also mixed with a biological tone like the course said it would (it mentioned gender differences in bones and then moved on)). It gave off the tone that other cultures were better than others, in a way that when you had to write about certain practices you were constantly comparing them (the whole point of anthro is to learn every topic, not rank them).
The first assignment said to use three citations (IN THE RUBRIC), and when I did and handed it in, my TA said there wasn't enough and just barely passed me. For the second assignment (which goes by the same rubric), I doubled the amount of citations, and the TA that marked it said I used too many, giving me a 60. For the exams, half of the questions match the material. Some were from the textbook, some lectures, then half were not taught at all.
The classes having problems shouldn't be blamed on the prof though, they're very helpful and will answer any of your questions. It's the TA's that ***** with you (and if you get a bad mark and want a regrade, you have to email the prof a 300 word paragraph why).
Please, I am begging you, do not take this course. I took it because I found out it was online, no prereqs needed, and it was split into four items: 2 assignments and 2 exams, making me think it would be a bird. Unless you're an anthropology nerd, this will not help your gpa.

the course wasnt thaaaaat bad. i guess in my case i used AI for both quizzes and got nearly 100 so lol. but we also had to write two essays which was INSANE. you could do your best but i dont know what he was looking for tbh but i got 70-75 for both.
so you only had 4 things to do each worth 25%. two quizzes, the first is like a midterm one and the second is an exam type one (both completely online). hes just a picky grader when it comes to the essay smh, but overall if you get like 70%+ on the essays and like 90-100 on the quizzes, you should be good and end the course with a decent grade like me if you dont mind.
picky grader for the essays or whoever grades them (probably TAs), i hope you get a nice one
if you dont like writing and the thought of dealing with an essay (TWO) bothers you, then stay away. but tbh you can get through it. easy 10 lol

This is the most woke, nonsensical material I've ever experienced. It's very easy, if you can handle the head-scratching material and the strong opinionated tone, but it's designed to make you think in a very specific way. The assignments don't offer many options, so your stuck working on a topic you may not be interested in or agree with. The low workload is appealing to students who just want an easy credit but I'm serious, it's not worth the headache of digesting the material, there are better bird courses
Critical race/gender theory, feminism, life/death, human behaviour. But taught in a terrible way that doesn't encourage critical thinking, just straight stuffing a very strong opinion down your throat. They call it science but as a science major taking this course for an elective, I would not call this science. There are no experiments or measurements, simply observations and very poor analysis
Could barely get through a lecture without wanting to scream, but more the fault of the content than the prof. Average teaching style and presentation, no serious complaints
I wish I had known about the lack of discourse. It's impossible to critique critical race/gender theory in this class, despite it's many flaws. It's one thing to teach ideas but another entirely to promote them without discussing others

Worst course I ever had, took as an elective but the content is extreme boring. Will not recommend.

Content is easy and straightforward. Dr Leigh puts emphasis on bigger concepts and dates. Tests were fair. Some trick questions where the best possible answer is the correct answer even though 2 of the answer choices are technically correct. Essays were a bit hard but not too bad
A great help and cares about her students. Makes the lectures easy to follow.
Do the reading and take notes because they pop up on the tests. Is a bird course if you put in the effort.

Hardest first year course I had. Took as an extra elective and brought down GPA

Pretty good overall. Requires a decent amount of work especially for textbook readings.
Start the assignments early
