Comments on the course

This class is fairly laid back: essay format is flexible, many assignments are graded based on completion (you get 100% if you do it), and not much studying needed.

Advice

Work with your group in group projects, as there will be peer evaluations where you grade depends on how your teammates grade you. The professor is fairly accommodating so he'll work something out for people in different time zones.

Comments on the course

The first FACC course taken by all engineering students. This course provides an introduction into the engineering profession: what it means to be an engineer, what responsibilities engineers have, and how the profession is regulated in Quebec. Expect a light course load, featuring mainly readings, short essays, and group assignments.

Course Content

Ethics: decision making processes, ethical models, philosophy of ethics, ethical dilemmas, conflict of interests, case studies. Professionalism: responsibilities of the professional engineer, environmental awareness, character development, case studies.

Comments on the professor

A very chill professor. He facilitates class discussions very well, and is quite approachable.

Advice

Come to class and don't be that person who doesn't contribute to group assignments. Participation is a major aspect of your grade, as well as peer-evaluations. There were no formal midterms of final when I took the course.
