Prof: Jeanette Martin / Fall 2025

Comments on the course

Havent finished it yet but I currently have a 95%. I barely passed precalc in highschool but Professor Martin makes it very easy to understand if you're willing to pay attention and attend lecture every day. I highly recommend going to every lecture. There's something new everyday and she's been teaching for years, you're not gonna be more efficient at teaching yourself than her. Every week, you'll have an online homework, and a written homework. The online homework consists of 15-20 problems. I usually do atleast 5 a day, around 20-30 minutes. I sometimes crank it out all in a day within an hour or two. The written homework consists of 5-8 problems, usually same workload or a little harder than the online homework. Just do a little bit every day and you're fine. Quizzes are usually every...read more

Course Content

Limits, derivatives, integrals. Calc 1 itself isn't super useful I guess, but I'm doing mechanical so it's a building block up to actually useful stuff

Comments on the professor

She makes the concepts easy to understand by breaking down each concept into smaller chunks. She's extremely understanding and loves to answer your questions

Advice

Attend every lecture

Prof: Daniel Reiss / Fall 2021

Comments on the course

Hampson makes the tests with Reiss and some questions are out of left field. It really sucks and I wish it wasn't ~65% of the grade.

Comments on the professor

Reiss is great but sometimes writes too small so sit in the front.

Advice

I wish I knew how horrendous the course load and exam were.

Try to get a good professor if at all possible - it can make or break the course for you.

Limits, derivatives, definite and indefinite integrals. Hasn’t had any use in my life (yet?)

Prof: David Hampson / Fall 2021

Dec 4, 2021

Comments on the course

I needed to take the course, but whatever you do stay away from David Hampson, he will ridicule you if you ask a question, give you 4 homework’s A WEEK (including holidays YAY!). And the cherry on top is his teaching method, oh boy where do I start, he doesn’t check if his work is correct which leads students to correct him multiple times per lecture, he also skips so many steps and doesn’t explain anything because “you should know” so yeah, avoid David Hampson.

Course Content

I don’t even know if I learned anything from the professor, the TAs are cool tho

Comments on the professor

I hate David Hampson :)

Advice

To avoid David Hampson at all cost
