Comments on the course

This was a really interesting class to take and well worth the experience if you're interested in more in-depth work in the TV studio. Getting to produce a talk show that broadcasts on public access is a really unique experience, and you even get a hand in who gets brought onto the show. It's a lot more close-knit hands on work, and a really different experience from just a lecture course.

Course Content

Broad concepts of the importance of community media/localized media platforms, studio hosting, studio directing, lights, sound, graphics, teleprompter, editing. If you're looking to gain or improve your broadcast media skills and add to your resume, this is a great way to do it. Aside from assigning an episode to edit for everyone, there's also group production projects you work on to create video/media content for groups at WSU and within the Worcester community. These vary depending on who reaches out for help to the class, but they're usually not super time consuming. There's also weekly forums for you to respond to that are pretty easy to do.

Comments on the professor

Professor Hunt is a great guy. His background is heavier on the journalistic side rather than production, but he definitely still knows his stuff. Really flexible and easy to meet with for any reason.

Advice

Take Television Production first (its a prerequisite) and have at least a bit of understanding in camera operation/video editing. The class runs under the assumption you at least have these skills.
