Comments on the course

The class was good for fulfilling that interdisciplinary requirement and starting the CPL minor. I would take it again if I could. There weren't many assignments other than the question sets about the movie and the correlated leadership style, which you could do while the movie is playing.

Course Content

It was a movie night every other week, with the weeks in between movies being taken up by lectures by Dr.Dean. It was fairly useful and you could see that he was passionate about the content. The discussion groups held by discussion leaders in the Honors College were great for making friends.

Comments on the professor

On the days that we didn't watch a movie, Dr.Dean lectured for all three hours with little to no break, and I'm not entirely sure that he took a breath in those three hours either. He's funny, but rambles extensively and finds a story to tell you about every little nuance of the course content. He's also the head of the Honors Dept., so he talks about that quite a bit as well. Dr.Rovine grades for the course and is fantastic. He lectured one night, and we were out of there in an hour and fifteen, rather than the Dr.Dean usual of three hours.

Advice

If you get an A in the class and a 3.75 for the semester, you will most likely receive an invitation to the Honors College Bridge Program. Approach this program carefully and make sure that you know what you are getting into, as well as whether you really want to be in the Honors College. Try to get in contact with a current Honors Bridge student or a student in the Honors College who will honestly tell you the pros and cons of this program, and go to an Honors Student Association meeting to get more of a feel for the HC. Don't automatically go for this, as you may regret it further down the line.
