Dr. Means herself stated that this class is the hardest CSD class in the major. Exams are deceptively difficult, so studying is a must. The exams are proctored using Proctorio, so say goodbye to peeking at notebooks and quizlets online. Make sure you complete those case studies; each batch is worth 12% of your grade. As long as you turn everything in, you will pass (there is a strict no-late-assignments policy).

The content specifically covers speech and voice disorders, as well as disorders of fluency, articulation, stuttering, and plenty of others. This class also covers the assessment process and provides assignments on studying cases (and how you would assess, diagnose, and treat clients). If you're studying to be a SLP, this is crucial information.

Dr. Means is a very knowledgeable professor who has plenty of experience (she teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses as well), so advice from her is appreciated. She emphasizes asking questions and being punctual about your assignments. Unlike most professors, however, you will actually get an e-mail asking about why you were absent from one class (in the case that you're taking a hybrid course, not a 100% online course).

Make sure you know your stuff; this is a 300 level class, so prior knowledge is mandatory to understand the content in CSD329. Also be prepared to drive to another parking lot or walk 20 minutes to class every Monday morning (it is at a building in 201 Carter Drive).
