Medler is a fantastic prof. He always goes above and beyond to help his students and answers his emails really quickly. I found that the course was challenging because I am not a number-oriented person. I was a straight C/D math student in high school. I actually tried to take this class years earlier and dropped it because I was failing to understand anything - but I came back to it with a fresh mindset and succeeded with a LOT of outside class work. Thankfully, Medler breaks everything down and wants everyone to pass. He doesn’t recommend looking at outside sources to learn the material, but I’ve found it helpful - you just need to know specifically what you’re looking for. There are lots of opportunities for office hours. The homework and quizzes really solidified the material for ...read more
Go to every class. Go to every lab. Answer the bonus poll questions. Write out your notes. Write down what he says! Sometimes he explains and expands on concepts that aren’t as clear in the slides. If he draws a diagram, draw it too. Most importantly, study not just to pass, but to actually master the material. That’s when it makes sense! I would also recommend taking a lighter course load to dedicate more time to this class. If you need to fill some electives for your major, arrange them around the 300A/B classes if you can. I wouldn’t have the time to learn the material if I were also taking 3 other 300-level psych classes concurrently.

Medler is an exceptional instructor who makes topics extremely interesting with his ability to turn it into a collaborative conversation and apply real-world situations to the content. The tests are also very fair and if you study the material, you're guaranteed to do well. This class ended up being one of my favourite psychology classes I took and it was one that I had just added for fun at the last minute. The lecture slides are also very well laid out!
Highly recommend taking this class with Medler

Medler is a solid prof (if not pretty boring), but show up to class and do the practice problems and you’ll do fine.
Exams consist of 50% theory (fill in the blank/MC/matching/graphs) questions and 50% is a few long answer questions - re-do all the long answer questions from the group assignments and homework to practice for the long answer questions on the exam (same for 300B).
