Comments on the course

Tough course. Largely self-taught, little guidance on homework (make use of your TA!) and difficult exams. Luckily he curves the final grades by about 25%, so you should be ok if you are willing to put in some effort

Course Content

Learn methods for solving partial differential equations, mainly the heat, wave, and Laplace equations. Includes an in-depth study of Fourier series and their applications

Comments on the professor

Professor was kind, but not helpful. Lectures off slides copied from textbook, offers little explanation and frequently strays off topic.

Advice

I would recommend taking real analysis before this class, because the text (which is your only way to learn the material) is pretty dense and abstract. It won’t make much sense without a decent background in proof-based mathematics
