Comments on the course

Loved this class! Don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy, but it's made me realize how much I love Biochemistry!

Course Content

Content is lipid metabolism, transport, Transcription/Translation, DNA repair, that kind of stuff. Definitely in-depth!

Comments on the professor

Dr. Smith is super nice! Really understanding and willing to discuss test answers, and gives points back if he feels the TAs graded incorrectly. Genuinely wants students to succeed. You can opt out of quizzes/hw/clickers if you want and have only exams for your grade (but these assignments mostly act as a buffer, which is nice). Offers both a cumulative and non-cumulative final exam option (cumulative can replace your lowest test grade).

Advice

I would focus on the slides for test content. I rewatched lectures and retook notes to study. I studied harder than I ever had for any class, but it paid off. Make sure you know how pathways are connected. He clarifies exactly what you need to know for the exam if you ask. Don't bother reading the book unless you want further clarification - its not really necessary.
