Prof: David Begley / Fall 2023

Dec 17, 2023

Comments on the course

The class was both interesting and challenging. I felt like I grew as a designer even though I'm not officially in the Graphic Design program yet.

Course Content

There a several projects you work on throughout the course of the semester that all heavily weigh on your grade. The class was twice a week for about 2 1/2 hours, which is great if you don't have much time outside of class to work on projects (like myself).

Comments on the professor

Professor Begley was awesome! A little intimidating at first, but he wants to help you succeed. If you show interest in the class, are ready to learn, and trying to grow and gain experience, he's there to help. The projects simulate if I was designing for a client (which he acts as) so talking to him and making sure my projects were on the right track was super helpful for me getting a good grade.

Advice

Make sure you're organized before the semester begins and stay organized in this class. Keep all your documents in the right place and name them correctly. Also, if you don't know what something is, don't be afraid to ask. I screwed up my process book for my first project cause I didn't know what it was and just kind of threw some pictures together in an InDesign document. Also, make sure to allocate a couple of hours outside of class each week to work on projects. It's really easy to get behind on things and end up with sloppy work at the end.
