Comments on the course

The focus of the class is on group discussions based off of readings about vernacular architecture. If you do the readings and come to class prepared with some personal thoughts and questions, you'll be fine. You really get out of it what you put in.

Course Content

The information isn't necessary for the major but it does a very good job of helping you develop personal thoughts and opinions on historic preservation topics that may not have right or wrong answers.

Comments on the professor

Professor Henry will never make you feel stupid for speaking your mind and is very good at facilitating conversations.

Advice

The class is very general/holistic when it comes to architecture. I don't think you need much background to join and get involved.
