Prof: Swati Padmanabhan / Fall 2025
Sep 25, 2025
only 3 weeks into class, and the workload is virtually the same as if you had a full-time job. lectures are just 2 hours of math proofs and insane theoretical math. doesn't feel like a 3XXX level class at all.
so far it's literally just been proofs of mathematical terms/inequalities/relationships with very little real-world application, unless if you're researching how to create ASI already or are on your 5th doctorate.
Prof. Swati is a wonderful person, and does a fairly good job at explaining the concepts, however, the workload is unfathomably high (3 weeks in, homeworks probably take 12+ hours per assignment and are due weekly), and, maybe it's just because of the material, but everything is solely theoretical and doesn't include any actual hands-on/real-world application of it.
I really don't know, unless another class can substitute this for a DS major or whatever other major requires this. Don't take this class if you can avoid it. I'd rather join the military than have to take this class.
