Comments on the course

terrible didnt post assignments or anything for about a month into school practically ghosted entire class from 1st day of class into sept 22

Course Content

every two weeks prof posted an hour long lecture video and 1 canvas quiz listed as homework which was 10q. Also uploaded discussions to do

Comments on the professor

terrible forever to contact assigned midterm online with webcam lockdown browser whilst simultaneously recommending us to print out = 50+ pages of notes that she uploaded, considering that lockdown doesn't let us use technology for open notes

Advice

that she sucks and to immediately enroll in another class

Prof: Galli / Fall 2022

Comments on the course

I believe it's a mandated state required course, but it is terribly performed. No real lectures, just textbook and short youtube videos. In the syllabus the professor even argues this point ahead of time and that you shouldn't complain he doesn't even teach the content. Good amount of work every week and the homework is very hard if you only use the textbooks as they are only conceptual. Then the youtube videos don't explain how to do problems yourself, just the solutions to a few of the problems. It's just not a well designed course

Course Content

The concepts are quite useful, it's just they are not taught well. Well, technically they are not really taught at all you learn them from the textbooks, but still. There is no option for a lectured section, so I'm not sure what the point is.

Comments on the professor

Professor Galli is alright, although he doesn't like being emailed or messaged (very explicitly in the syllabus) and instead just likes to use the discussion boards on WebCourses which you'll maybe get a response from. Not a bad professor per se, I think it's his first semester he taught the course, but there is just so little interaction between professor and... well the course so.

Advice

It's not hard to complete, most of the homeworks are easy enough to follow along with the videos and then some of the exams are based on it, but if the class was actually tested on their knowledge and comprehension the class average would maybe be a 5%.

Comments on the course

There are a ton of assignments, however, they are a huge part of your grade. If you want an A in the class, do all of them. Midterm & Final are very similar to the webassign HW.

Advice

Do all of the discussions and webassign's for an easy A in the class.

My SO had Sawyer, and seemed to have a better semester than I did, but Biehl was ok.

Advice

Keep a close eye on due dates, they change every week!

Prof: Sawyer / Fall 2020

Comments on the course

My SO had Biehl, I had Sawyer. Similar classes both using Cengage Webassign, but Sawyer is significantly less busy work, offers more extra credit, has the same schedule every week, and provides useful study guides. Biehl has a video assignment that is high effort, and his assignment schedule can be really random. Biehl did have a better connection between Webassign and webcourses, and his class had less technical problems. Once you get used to the way Sawyer does it, it’s ok. Sawyer is really picky about how you contact him: only webcourses messages, only with the TA CC’d, or he won’t respond. He is also more active on the forums than Biehl. Biehl has more puzzles, which are useful, and his grading seems easier on the discussions, which both classes have. He also seems more willing to allo...read more

Advice

Take Sawyer if you like a regular schedule, and will do all the work. It’s really an easy A, and less work than Beihl. If you’re the kind that forgets homework sometimes, Beihl is more likely to forgive you.

Ridiculous amount of discussions every week, webassign will be your best friend, weekly homework assignments, lots of extra credit opportunities. 2 open book exams, final is difficult in comparison to midterm.

Advice

Do the discussions and homework. Midterm is based off of homework.
