Prof: Max Croft / Spring 2022

Max Croft was an absolute joke of a professor. His assignments were messy and muddled, grading scheme entirely inconsistent, projects used broken and outdated programs which he refused to trouble shoot, requirements were that of a freshmen high school class rather than a 3000 level college course. All you will do is read out of a textbook and participate in discussion posts where at best they have no context to what you are doing and at worse they are stolen from an entirely other class. Also do not expect him to answer emails, even when it concerns your entire project not working due to the program he assigned. If you have any love of narratives and digital cultures, do not take Max Croft.
You will read out of a textbook, take entirely unrelated discussion posts with little to no value, and there will be two assignments to judge whether or not you actually read the textbook. Projects have entirely lax requirements and you do not plan or draft anything with assignments, he simply assigns the project and tells you "good luck."
He is lazy, insufferable, inconsistent, and the most unhelpful professor I have ever had the displeasure to have. He won't answer emails. He steals content from other courses. His projects use outdated software. He doesn't use his own lectures. His assignments have no rhyme or flow, none of them build on eachother and they all feel completely separated. His exams are just "vocab scavenger hunts" and offer little challenge or active participation in the course. He does not care about this course and if you love digital narratives it truly hurts to see.
Do not take this class. Any other professor could do a better job than Max Croft. I love stories, I love narratives, I have a fascination in the digital culture I participate in every day. Max Croft squeezes the life and fascination out of it. You won't build upon creative stories, you won't learn how to more actively participate and understand digital culture, you will simply read and take irrelevant assignments with a professor who does not care about this course.

I highly recommend this class the professor was great and seemed very down to earth! This class focused a lot on different digital narratives and creating your own through Twine. The content taught was enjoyable and made me more aware of all of the different ways we can utilize platforms to help publish and create our own works!

Prof K is an absolutely amazing professor. Gives great feedback and is extremely approachable. This class is also exactly what I want to do in life, so it was very interesting and useful for me. You use a program called Twine to create Interactive Fiction.
