Prof: Craig Meadows / Winter 2024

Comments on the course

Craig doesn't go to any facts, only his opinions, and needs to check his privilege. He is all about his feelings and nothing else, and is a theorist. Ironically, his sources are colonial, and while preaching libertarianism he practices totalitarianism and a personality cult of himself. His thoughts and actions are hateful, genocidal, and dangerous and have no place in society, let alone university

Prof: Neil Armitage / Fall 2023

Feb 26, 2024

Comments on the course

Gave everyone the same grade. Ppl that had him before stopped liking him. Might've been somewhat social and outgoing but was very selective in student interaction and discussion (also cares about certain groups of people and issues more than others). Unclear, and says "come up with whatever" when he really did have expectations he just withheld

Comments on the professor

Neil cannot handle people with different sociological viewpoints and interests. Only looking at race/gender/class separately through classical theories, he rejects intersectionality, empiricism (which makes soci scholarly), other forms of inequality, and anything that students can relate to. He is also an extreme ableist, yet has his own anger management problems and will lash out when you least expect it (perhaps you start considering methodological limitations of an outside source)

Comments on the course

Lectures are random facts read off a script, but sometimes can be good reminders. I don't take notes, but I listen with one ear on a good day or just do something else. Attendance is mandatory. This is more of a reading course, where there's three monthly readings from different textbooks. From a list of about 3-5 chapters, we're expected to read and write about 2 and connect them to outside sources/topics of our choice. A broad class (that people would say is too vague), but it just meant there were many good ways to approach it

Comments on the professor
