Prof: Erdogan Madenci / Fall 2021

May 29, 2022

Comments on the course

Lectures straight from handwritten notes; no supplementary textbook was given. This was frustrating because concepts needed to be cross referenced online if the notes weren't clear, and the application and delivery were never quite the same. Led to some confusion on topics.

Course Content

Stress and strain relations, cauchy reimann relations, Use of the deformation gradient tensor to inform particle motion.

Comments on the professor

Madenci expects a lot from his students. Exams were really tough, but the course was curved appropriately.

Advice

Ensure you have completed at least AME500A, and probably AME500B. He uses a lot of indicial notation in lectures for brevity in writing formulas. If you do not know it, you will when you're done. Better to be prepared ahead of time.
