Prof: Michael Gannon / Spring 2022

Comments on the course

Overall, I really enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it to others.

Course Content

The content applied to everyday life and is super useful in most cases. There were times where certain things definitely did not apply to me, but that is how it is with every course I feel.

Comments on the professor

Professor Gannon was a very good professor. He always did his best to keep us engaged. Whenever he thought we were confused or knew it was a topic previous students have struggled on, he would stop and ask us and dive into more detail before moving on. The only con and really this just applies to Spring semester, was that he got sick a lot and so he had to cancel a few classes. So there were times where class was cancelled and it seemed like a lack of time in-class on a certain topic.

Advice

I wish I knew how concept-heavy this course was. There is a bit of theory and remembering theorists, bart particularly, there is a lot of memorization and practice of concepts needed. However, I wish someone also would have told me that you can apply most sociological concepts to parts of your life, as this was super useful in helping to remember for exams.
