Comments on the course

Great material, Great prof as well. The material is interesting as long as you like technology, ancient/medieval history, and astronomy/medicine. Only part to watch out for is a lot of content to cover to prepare for exams, but I aced both, and the essay portion is marked on different grounds than the rest of the course(originality and clarity of sentences, etc.) Overall if you enjoy the material, study 2-3 days before exam and have some essay writing experience its actually quite easy/fun.

Good speaking style, but uploaded slides are sparse so make sure to attend class

Advice

Attend often, Take rigorous notes, Study a few days in advance, and Write the essay a week or so before due date, prof offers to read over it if you show her early.

Boring Material

Advice

The course sounds likes it’s going to be interesting, but based on who your prof is beware. The material taught was quite boring, and the teacher does not provide any materials aside form the additional readings. If you don’t attend, don’t expect to do well. The course spent 6 weeks on Agriculture, 4 on Astronmy and 1 on Medicine. Only one paper, a midterm (image analysis) and an exam.
