This course was very interesting. It delved into the basics of the Oceanography field and was very entertaining, even to a non-science major student. The labs were very cool, and allowed us to interact with our field of study in a hands on manner.
The content for the class was primarily on the ocean's biomes and biology, the elements that comprised it, and the creatures that lived within it. Geography and plate tectonics were touched on to explain how the ocean floor's shifts influence deposits within the waters themselves. A highlight of the class were the labs, one of which has you go on a boat to collect soil deposits and use the ship sensors to get readings.
The professor was very helpful and understanding when you were having trouble in the course.
I don't have anything that I wish I knew before the class, due to feeling prepared before taking the course. Just for general advice that could apply to any other class, I would highly suggest taking notes and thoroughly reading the textbook. It is crucial for the tests.
