Comments on the course

The course was good. It's quite heavy in reading at first, but it's OK. You can choose either video form or text form. There's also a poster project, plus a mind map project described below.

Course Content

You'll be reading about concepts like Typography, Text, Color, Form, and other concepts. You'll also have a poster project about one of the concepts, plus a mind map of the concepts in Miro. I really liked the mind map part. It taught me how to mind map.

Comments on the professor

While many other people drank the Kool-Aid on AI, Zachary Kaiser keeps it real. He's not afraid to criticize AI and its problems on society, even if people

Advice

If you're not a GD major, consider taking it over the summer. Reserved capacities in the main fall & spring semesters mean that getting into this class as a non GD major is very difficult

Comments on the course

An overall enjoyable course where I learned how to use various tools that are used in modern graphic design. The course centers around making your own logo for a charity.

Course Content

You'll be doing mood boards in Miro, interface design in Figma, logo design in Illustrator, Making a GIF in photoshop, making a flyer in InDesign, and making the logo animated in After Effects.

Comments on the professor

For whatever reason, the RMC system seems to think that Benjamin Van **** is a swear name [Scunthorpe Problem]

Advice

1. Consider taking this course over the summer. Unless you're a GD major, you'll have a hard time getting in over the main Fall & Spring semesters due to reserved capacities 2. Get an Adobe CC license from the MSU Tech Store

Prof: Wisa Fink / Fall 2025

Comments on the course

Easy, but not very useful. I don't feel like I learned very much when it came to GIS, but it's a prerequisite for more advanced GIS courses. It's one of those courses.

Course Content

It's mostly making a storymap. Too much story maps, not enough GIS.

Advice

The labs can take longer than expected.

Comments on the course

Overall, good class

Course Content

There's presentations from prospective employers from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. There's presentations by students about the textbook, this class is a semester long group projects, and there's usually an short essay every week about the content.

Comments on the professor

Ryan Shadbolt is legendary and cares a lot. He will let you resubmit assignments if you turn it in a week early.

Advice

Prepare for groups of 7 people

Comments on the course

Amazing elective class. Perfect fit for any & all majors. The professor is clearly passionate about this

Course Content

You'll be using your camera to shoot a variety of shot styles (full, closeup, mid, etc.), angles, etc. You'll also watch lectures about this.

Comments on the professor

Very passionate about the topic & her time at WKAR (she's retired now, moving to teaching)

Advice

You'll need to do grading appointments, some of which may be outside of normal class hours.
