Comments on the course

Objectively speaking, the content (circulatory, respiratory, and renal physiology) is very interesting, but the teaching and organization of the class were quite poor. Lectures were a chore to complete, and in order to fully understand the content, you need to take time to reorganize the material (very time-consuming). Labs were pretty cool, and were marked very fairly and both the midterm and final exam were honestly quite fair.

Course Content

If the content had been taught by a prof with better organizational skills, it likely would have been more interesting, since the material on its own is fascinating material. However, this class is quite poorly taught, which made some of the content quite difficult to get through. Honestly, this class felt like the middle section of Biology 2A03 on steroids.

Comments on the professor

Slides that were very hard to follow and covered in the text. Dr. O'Donnell also had a frustrating habit of opening the notes of some slides to reveal yet another block of text during lecture videos. The content was taught in sometimes a nonsensical order (for example, acid-base balance was taught prior to respiratory or renal physiology, despite depending on those two physiological systems.)

Advice

Don't take this class unless you really like physiology, unless you're willing to put in the work to understand the material, you'll probably struggle due to the poor organization and dry lectures.
