Comments on the course

My favourite class all year. Requires lots of memorization but is fun and interesting. Easy if you practice and memorize the root words.

Advice

The workbook is helpful for additional practice, but I'd say the textbook is a must as your exam is open-book but worth 50% of your grade.

Comments on the course

It's literally just about medical terminology. Like root words of stuff. You have to memorize as well as you can, so if that's not your thing, it might not be for you, but for most people, it should be pretty easy and definitely interesting. The lectures are very long and pretty boring although the prof does try to make it as interesting as one possibly can. Also this course still helps me understand terms even years after taking it

Comments on the course

I really enjoyed this course. Dr. Russell's lectures could be a little dry, but you could honestly watch them while doing other work and still absorb the content (or fast forward through parts of them when he went off on tangents.)

Advice

If you keep up with the work (the moodle, daily vocab, and practice tests Russell posts on avenue before the midterms/final) this course is a breeze and you will be successful.

Comments on the course

The workload was pretty easy, and the content is usually interesting really useful for those interested in biology, psychology, physiology, medicine etc. when applying what they learned in future courses

Comments on the professor

Dr. Russell can be pretty enthusiastic about the subject, which makes it a lot more enjoyable to learn the content in class,. He can be pretty fun, and 'eccentric' when giving explanations or anecdotes on how to remember certain terms, words, grammatical rules, etc. definitely would recommend as a prof 👍

Advice

The night classes were a bit hard to sit through if you're by yourself to be honest, so I suggest trying to do the course with a friend in your section so you don't doze off entirely, and also helps if you enjoy studying with others.

Comments on the course

Was an easy course. Just do the practice and follow the textbook. I didnt watch any of the lectures or recorded videos. Is a useful class for med students.

Advice

Take the course if you need an easy elective. However this course does require time and effort.

do all the practice you get and the exams will be a breeze. dr russell is not the most engaging professor (and he makes a lot of gross noises on the asynchronous lectures) but the class is easy and useful.
