Comments on the course

This course builds on the various techniques learned in previous math courses taken by engineering majors. Elements of linear algebra and vectors are used to calculate integrals along more complex domains, and concepts of series and ODEs are used to solve PDEs. Webworks and tutorials featured useful questions, and the exams were overall quite fair.

Course Content

Vector Calculus: parametrization of curves and surfaces, line and surface integrals over scalar and vector fields, conservative vector fields, curve and surface orientation, divergence, gradient, curl, Green's Theorem, Stoke's Theorem, 2D and 3D Divergence Theorem. Partial Differential Equations: Laplacian, separation of variables, Helmholtz Equation, periodic functions, Fourier Series, orthogonality, solutions for heat and wave equations with various boundary conditions, Sturm-Louisville Problems.

Comments on the professor

Can be a bit intimidating but teaches well. His notes are clear and very appealing to look at. Is pretty tech savvy, he fixes Webwork bugs and runs a Discord server for the class. Exams are split into short answer / multiple choice, and full solution questions. The questions are generally quite fair, and he gives plenty of partial credit. He does, however, get mad when you make a "simple" mistake.
