Comments on the course

This course is an introduction to climate science and ecology. I took this course in U0 civil engineering as an elective so my comments may not be applicable to geography students. Assigned readings were long and quite technical. There were few computations, mostly just understanding concepts.

Course Content

Introductory climate and atmospheric science, basic geography, introductory geology, geological history, climate change (recent ice ages, megafaunal extinctions, sea level changes, IPCC, hydrology, nitrogen cycle, ocean acidification, climate change denial, natural climate solutions, plastic pollution).

Comments on the professor

Explained concepts pretty well in the recorded lectures. Was not the best when it came to grading and in-person interactions. Marks were taken off inconsistently or for strange reasons, and people were crying during the post-midterm Q&A after a heated discussion with her.

Advice

Both the assigned readings and recorded lectures are crucial, as her questions often contain niche details. To get full points, a high level of detail is required while staying within her very strict word limits. Also, if you write anything incorrect or off-topic, she takes away points you already earned.
