I despise math; it’s why I’m not a math major. No disrespect to the course, I understand why it’s required for psychology, but statistics just isn’t for me 🤷.

The course was useful in the sense that it prepares you for PSYCH 250. If you’re not planning on going into a research-oriented career, I doubt it will be of much use to you. The grading is structured around exams, textbook hws, response hws, and lab assignments. Good news is the textbook is free; written by Professor Alliger. It it my understanding that a few semesters ago, this course used an expensive stats platform to conduct the labs, but since then, they’ve transitioned to a free software called JASP that is only used during labs. Lab is always online. Lowest exam is dropped.

Professor Robinson is amazing, definitely take her if you have the chance. She always curves exams and has intensive review sessions and materials to help students succeed. I had Professor Qiu for lab, and she was really sweet as well, however, I cant say the same for her TA. During the beginning of the semester, my classmates and I noticed that we were barely passing the labs, while students in different lab sections were receiving full marks on every lab. We would oftentimes have to dispute the grading with Professor Qiu, who would give us some points back. I genuinely expected to get a low B in this class due to the lab component of the course.

You definitely have to dedicate yourself to this class. The exam 1 content and assignments were what I found to be easiest, but I didn't care at all during the beginning of the semester, so exam 1 ended up being my lowest scoring grade despite the fact that I found the other exams to be far more challenging. If I was able to get an A-, you can get an A+! Good luck in this course. I believe in you.
