The course introduces students to some great works of fiction/non-fiction as well as solid writing advice. Some students complained about being given very little time to complete in-class quizzes, so be prepared to write fast and remember details from the readings.

There are many required readings on ARES which are used in class discussions and reading reviews. The content focuses on several notable writers, and students are tasked with writing weekly short stories/poems to review in the workshops.
